| The 2-day course will be given by PD Dr. Gunnar Dietz, Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co. KG, Karlsruhe-Durlach. Drug Discovery and Project Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry What does it take to develop a new drug? Day 1 - Matrix organization as a management concept: Sharing of limited resources among different projects - Basics of working in projects; the high responsibility and low authority of the project manager - Stages and the process of drug discovery; * Target selection * Compound screening * Hit identification * drug lead selection and optimization; ADME,PK;tox issues * cell based assays * in vivo models. * Clinical studies Day 2 Introduction to project management with relevance for drug development for diseases of the CNS with practical exercises.
