| The course is given by Dr. Nadine Sinclair, Munich. This first workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of project management. The course will not only provide an overview of the theory and principles, but also teach participants to apply these principles to their PhD during the course. While we will introduce tools and software solutions, we will focus on simple pragmatic approaches that can be implemented without having to buy and/or learn a software, do not require a long set up time and can be adjusted easily. As part of the course, participants will draw up a project plan for their PhD and collect feedback from the group. During the workshop, participants will have learned the answers to the following questions: -What is a project? -Is my PhD a project? -What is project management? -How to plan a project? -How to define milestones and set realistic deadlines? -How to deal with the high degrees of uncertainty in research? -How can I apply project management principles to my PhD?
