Strategies to design photoswitchable fluorescent proteins and their application in nanoscopy
Lecturer:
N. N.
Course typ:
Blockveranstaltung
Description:
The course will be given by Stefan Jakobs (sjakobs@gwdg.de) and Nickels Jensen (njensen@gwdg.de).

GFP-like fluorescent proteins are powerful tools to study protein dynamics in living cells. The actual properties of the fluorescent proteins may be dramatically altered by slight changes in their amino acid sequences. This short practical course will cover several basic methods for targeted and random mutagenesis based on PCR. We will use the coding sequences of switchable fluorescent proteins as templates. The mutagenized proteins will be analyzed for variants exhibiting different properties, using fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) and an automated screening microscope setup. The RSFPs will be used for live-cell super-resolution microscopy.
