Using biosensors to study cellular redox processes
Lecturer:
Prof. Dr. med. Dörthe M. Katschinski
Course typ:
Blockveranstaltung
Description:
First a theoretical introduction is given about genetically encoded redox biosensors and their application in the life sciences. Second, in the practical part we will mainly focus on the protocol for isolation of cardiomyocytes from adult mouse heart by Langendorff´s perfusion system followed by the redox measurements required to obtain the glutathione redox potential (EGSH) using the Grx1-roGFP2 biosensor. The possible applications of this sensor model along with the associated limitations will also be discussed along with the experimental demonstration of the technique.
