Microfabrication techniques for Microfluidics
Lecturer:
Dr. Corinna Maaß, Dr. Stefan Karpitschka
Course typ:
Blockveranstaltung
Description:
Microfluidics is widely used as a platform to study biophysics, biotechnology, small scale fluid mechanics etc. In this two-day course, the students will acquire basic knowledge about microfluidics and gain hands-on experience on fabrication and characterization techniques. The training includes soft lithography and chemical surface treatment to fabricate microfluidic chips and micro-patterned surfaces. Next, students will be shown how to use these tools for applications in droplet microfluidics and wetting and interfacial phenomena. This will be followed by characterization of the produced samples using microscopy and ImageJ software. The participants do not need any specific previous knowledge to attend the course.
