This course encourages students to engage with texts at the fundamental level of close reading asking questions about form, structure, voice, language and imagery. How do texts produce meaning though the means typical of the medium of literature? How do we actually read a text in-depth? What are the rewards of such an approach to literature? Several shorter texts will be made available in Stud.IP before the start of the semester. The course takes place every other week and attendance and active participation are obligatory.
